Dallas Raines was born in Texas but now resides in Southern California. For the past 15 years, he has served the Southern California community as the weatherman on KABC, channel 7. In addition, Dallas was the host of the television show, the Exciting World of Speed and Beauty. Dallas has owned many of the finest high performance cars ever made and now he is the proud owner of the Pantera shown on this page.

This is not the first Pantera that Dallas has owned. Initially, he had purchased a red, slightly modified car. Finding P.I. MotorSPORTS on the web, Dallas brought in his car for resale. It wasn't long before the car was sold to another customer. Dallas picked out this 1971 car that of all things, had a rat motor for motivation.

The car you see here had a great number of strong points, especially the updated interior. Trimmed in gray leather, the condition of the interior was in top shape.

These are stock seats. The floor mats are P.I. MotorSPORT brand. Dallas is over six foot tall and head room is at a premium for him.

Dallas' chief complaint is his need for speed. Although there is a big debate about the wisdom of using a Chevy engine in a Pantera, there can be no question that this big cube motor has tons of torque. When the car is returned to us, we intend to clean up the hoses and lines on the motor to make it more show-worthy. Please note that nitrous oxide is in residence.

The wheels Dallas chose are P.I. MotorSPORTS, 17 inchers with Michelin Pilot tires. This set of tires and wheels costs less than $2,600.00 and Dallas can't pay them any higher compliments in looks, handling and ride.

The 454 cubic inch Chevy engine does look like a natural fit in the Pantera. We believe our 427 Pantera engine would offer even better performance, however, we are not impartial. We are Ford men through and through.

Another nice attribute of the car is the stock appearance. Here, this Pantera does not have any front spoiler. We do offer several spoiler options. The owner craves high speed operation. This car has very good ground clearance. The P.I. MotorSPORTS wheels look very stout and fill up the wheel wells completely.

The owner does not loaf his Pantera around town. We won't say when, where or how, but this Pantera has never lost a race yet. Don't test him. Dallas isn't afraid to drop the hammer.

The steering wheel is an after-market item available from P.I. MotorSPORTS. Note that the early dash has two pods on it. All switch gear, gauges and air conditioning are operable.

To make a big block Chevy mate up with a ZF, a special bell housing is needed along with other modifications. Note remote oil filter location. Early cars such as this one have different wheel houses with creases in them as depicted.

The bottom line on this car is that it looks great in petrol blue paint, has an comfortable leather interior and lots of economical grunt from the big block Chevy. Would Dallas ever sell his car? Maybe. Give us a call if you want to try to talk him out of it.
