This
Pantera is not running. It has been stored and not used for many
years. This inactivity and lack of protection has resulted in a
case of serious rust in the rear engine compartment or wheel
houses. The systems of this car, mechanical, brakes, cooling, A/C
will all require restoration or replacement to some degree. |
|
This
type of rust requires repair and it is not a repair that can
easily be done by the backyard mechanic. |
|
It
is sad that the owner let things get out of hand because, overall,
this is a clean and original time piece. |
|
The
interior and general shape of the body are the high points. The
low points are the rust situation and the potential mechanical
issues this car poses. |
|
Why
bother with a car like this in the first place? If you have the
funds to buy a completed car, you should look elsewhere. If you
want a car you can enjoy right away, don't consider this car. If
you aren't a bodyman or know a good one who can do you right, do
not consider this car. If you are of the frame of mind to buy a
car based on pictures alone, do not buy this car. However, if you
want the pleasure and challenge of restoring a survivor type car
or converting an original and essentially complete Pantera to a
wide body or race car, you should definitely consider this car,
especially at the price. Most total restorations involve metal
work to begin with and the majority of customers we serve demand
stronger engines, rebuilt transmissions, better brakes and better
cooling. If you are of this frame of mind, this may be the car for
you. |
