  • Specifications
  • This is one of the most fascinating DeTomaso automobiles we have ever had in our inventory. With a real sense of history and uniqueness.
  • Celebrity owners: Jack Nethercutt, the Merle Norman tycoon and founder of the Nethercutt Collection and then Gerard Wiegert, the creator of the amazing Vector.
  • Boss 302 Ford engine with Gurney Eagle cylinder heads and four barrel intake manifold
  • Rebuilt ZF gearbox
  • All body work performed in lead by Angelo Pino of Pino's Auto Body. Mr. Pino has been the choice of celebrities for their collector cars such as Jerry Seingeld and David Letterman.
  • Ferrari red paint - 10 coats of Glasso brand paint.
  • Rotary A/C
  • Improved cooling system
  • DeTomaso Mangusta script made from sterling silver
  • Full tan leather interior
  • Original steering wheel has been restored
  • Very straight body. Minor rust in the driver's side storage compartment and some very minimal bubbling below the battery area.
  • Regarding the motor, it was recently rebuilt with all high performance parts. The engine was intentionally not re-installed. This Mangusta is available in one of three ways: 1) "As-is" with the engine out of the car. 2) With the Gurney Eagle 302 re-installed or 3) With a rebuilt 302 "crate engine" installed instead of the Gurney 302 which will be separated.
  • For owners desiring a stock presentation, the 302 crate engine may be more desirable. For the Mangusta enthusiast who enjoys the increased performance and rarity of the Gurney Eagle engine while also maintaining the modifications made by Mr. Wiegert, returning the Eagle to its nest is the only choice!
  • Market Value Comments: We have not had a Mangusta for sale in over a year and the last one we did have sold for almost $90,000.00 while an average "driver" type Mangusta brought $60,000.00 over one year ago. There are very few of these cars changing hands and we have been advised that one Mangusta in the Boston area recently sold for $150,000.00. Because there were only 401 'Geese built, the values on these amazing cars will only escalate even in today's depressed economy. If you have ever wanted one of these cars, this may be the last opportunity to purchase a very strong one for under $100,000.00. Please email or call us for more information.
