Additional information and photographs of the 1970 Ford Mustang

  • Several interested bidders have asked for photos of the underside of the car. The below photographs were taken on April 6, 2007 and show several areas of concern. The worst part is on the passenger side frame rail and sheet metal. We would not describe this as severe corrosion, however, this is one area that will require restoration.

  • The body shows liberal use of Bondo and evidence of older, poorly made repairs.

  • The front end received some type of a blow and there is visible sheet metal damage in the valance underneath the front bumper and spoiler. There was also a moderate blow to the oil pan as shown.

  • The front suspension needs to be repaired and several arms replaced altogether that are deformed. The shock absorbers are worn out. The passenger side is worse than the driver's side. The car cannot be driven safely until this is done.

  • As represented earlier, this is a restoration type project. The car has some weak areas obviously and is not recommended for somebody that expects to have a car that they can begin driving and enjoying immediately, without some work. If you are not mechanically inclined and have to pay retail for repairs, this may not be a good car for you to consider. In the hands of an expert mechanic/bodyman, this car could end up being something special.

  • Rust can be seen on the bottoms of the doors.

  • The glove box doesn't latch.

  • The emergency brake doesn't work.

  • The stereo doesn't work.

  • The shifter needs adjustment or repair.

  • Some of the trim has pitting.

  • We continue to recommend that you personally inspect this car and satisfy yourself as to what you are purchasing. The trunk does not open and we are unable to describe the condition of it. We apologize for this.
