Mr. Tom Tjaarda, the designer of the
Pantera

This is what
Tom Tjaarda had to say
about his new wheel design:
"As a matter of history, years ago, when I made the
original design for the wheel, there was little time to go into
too much detail on the drawings sent to the wheel manufacturer.
Only a very rough scale design was made on paper, things like
radius would be worked out later on the model. I did not work
out every radius. The manufacturer just went ahead and produced
the wheel thinking that the drawing was the final solution. And
it just stayed that way. The modifications we have
accomplished are what the wheel should have looked like in the
first place. Personally, I was never very
enthusiastic about the original Pantera wheel because it looked
unfinished and amateurish, but now, it not only looks finished
and much more refined but also integrates with the overall
design concept of the Pantera"
