Evaluation

The GT5 was a rare beast in its day and seldom seen in this country. The lucky few owners that imported them in the "Gray Market" days had one amazing Pantera. The build quality was superior and there were many upgrades. However, those GT5's cost 2 - 3 times more than a U.S. spec Pantera and there was little to brag about in the performance department, especially if the car complied with tough emission standards. Fortunately, GT5 kits went into production that would allow an owner to update their car's appearance. By turning a stock bodied Pantera into a "wide-body", the owner could stuff humongus wheels and tires into the fender wells. The huge Delta wing looked right at home, hovering over the rear haunches of the Pantera. Some people confused the GT5 for a Countach and that ain't necessarily a bad thing!
A GT5 kit can be purchased in fiberglass or steel. This body kit is fiberglass and the fender flares are molded into the body. Interesting is that the factory GT5 cars had composite fender flares also, however, they were simply glued on with a plastic material slapped in over the seam. It still looked righteous, but it didn't look totally finished as this one does. Sadly, we often find cracking where the fiberglass meets the steel and this seems to be the case on this car. Fortunately, it is an easy repair.
This Pantera has been driven and is not a trailer queen. She does have some minor chips, dings and scratches that can all be freshened up.
The last wide-body car we had on our showroom floor sold for over $80,000.00 and was like a new car with plenty of leading edge parts. This car offers up the same overall appearance and nearly similar performance. It doesn't take much to unleash the full potential of this engine. We know, we do it constantly.
When we evaluate this car, we added up in our head these figures:
Good quality donor car: $30,000.00
GT5 kit, repaint, refinish engine bay, wings, spoilers, hood vents: $15,000.00
Interior upgrades, gauges, roll cage, safety harnesses, rigidity kit and seats: $5,000.00.
Professionally built 351 C, polished ZF, custom headers and mufflers, cooling system upgrades: $15,000.00
Billet aluminum, CNC 17 inch wheels and Michelin Sport Tires: $5,000.00.
We believe this Pantera represents an amazing value at the owner's asking price. You won't find many GT5 cars for sale at any given time. If this car interests you, please make your move now. We would enjoy showing her to you.
